Rohit has been advised rest by the BCCI Medical Team before Australia Tour

Rohit Sharma captained India in the absence of Virat Kohli in the recently concluded series against the Windies. India won the T20I series by 3-0 with Rohit as a captain. Rohit was also a part of the Indian ODI squad which won the five-match ODI series by 3-1.

According to a BCCI press release, Rohit Sharma has been advised rest by the BCCI Medical Team. Keeping his recent workload in mind, he was rested in consultation with the team management and the Selection Committee.

In January, Rohit did not perform well in the test matches in South Africa. So he was dropped after the second Test. After that, he was not even included in the squad for the five-Test series in England. Now Rohit Sharma earned a callback and was named in the Test squad for Australia.

Rohit was included in India A squad for the First Four-day Game Against New Zealand A from which he is now rested. This match was going to help him to get some practice for the Test before the tour of Australia.

But as now he is advised rest by BCCI Medical Team, his only chance to get practice before the test series is a practice match in Sydney before the first Test at Adelaide. The first test begins on December 6.

The India vs Australia 2018-19 tour will include three-match ODI series, four-match Tests series, and three-match T20I series. The tour will start from 21 November at The Gabba, Brisbane with its First T20I which is then followed by tests and ODIs.
